GET INVOLVED

We are a congregation that takes our call to serve others very seriously. Our Outreach is tremendous, and is a part of each of the ministries of our church. It is in our DNA. It is just how we are church. Below you will find a list with a brief description of just some of the opportunities. Find a place to use your gifts with us and the community!

OUR MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

A monthly collection of granola bars and crackers to benefit the Backpack Feeding Program of Bourbon County Schools.

A monthly meeting at the county extension office to place all the collected items for the Backpack Feeding Program into grocery sacks for distribution to the school children of the county.

A collection of non-perishable food during Advent to benefit Operation Food Basket (local food pantry).

Disciple Men sponsor Souper Bowl of Caring to benefit Operation Food Basket.

We regularly serve at Operation Food Basket.

Disciple Women sponsor children of North Middletown Elementary School with Angel Tree donations at Christmas

Regular Communion Services at Bourbon Heights nursing facility.

Bethlehem Mall, an alternative Christmas shopping experience, benefits SERV, Heifer International, Operation Food Basket, The Well (rent, utility, and medical outreach), and North Middletown Volunteer Fire Department.

We collect food and money for Thanksgiving Baskets for the elderly.

We hold an annual “Undie Sunday” collection of underwear for children who seek assistance through the Bourbon County Family Resource Centers.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

Lenten Soup, Sandwiches, & Speakers

Wednesday during Lent, 6:00 p.m.

In the six weeks leading up to Easter, we prepare ourselves by coming together for a simple meal of soup and sandwiches. We also explore an aspect of our local community by inviting a guest speaker to inform us. All are welcome!

Women's Derby Party

Day after Derby, after church

All women of the church and their women friends and family are invited to an afternoon of food, fellowship, and door prizes! Put on your fancy hats (if you wish) and join us! The woman who brings the most canned food for Operation Food Basket wins a special prize.

Ice Cream Supper

Last Sunday in July, 7:00 p.m.

The church choir hosts a huge (and delicious) ice cream supper fundraiser. Don't let the title fool you, there are all kinds of treats to satisfy your sweet tooth. It is a great opportunity to not only support the music ministry of the church but get together with friends and neighbors.

Trunk or Treat

Last Sunday in October, 6:00 p.m.

A fun event for the entire community! All ghosts and goblins are invited to the church parking lot (or Education Building if the weather doesn't cooperate). Have fun visiting the decorated vehicles and collecting all the treats!
